Passions are often chosen, love affairs intentionally decided on. Parkerson’s commitment to music, however, is less a conscious design than an intrinsic part of his nature. Parkerson’s music encompasses the small details of sounds and silences, the elements of consequence, revealing to the listener, in its scope, the spaces that music can inhabit, the energies it can unlock and reveal. In a time when lyrics often don’t seem to matter as much and are secondary to catchy beats, Parkerson is a poet. Each song he creates is a poem, the lines imploding with primal emotion, the color red when he speaks of blue. This is poetry out of which are born the ethereal and the corporeal, blood and spirit and bone.
